About Dick King-Smith

Dick King-Smith was born in Gloucestershire, England, in 1922. He worked as a farmer and a teacher before becoming a full-time writer in his fifties. He is best known for his children's books, including Babe, which was adapted into a beloved film in 1995. King-Smith has written over 100 books, which have been translated into more than 30 languages.

King-Smith was a recipient of numerous awards, including the British Book Awards Children's Author of the Year and the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize. He was also appointed an Officer of the Free Download of the British Empire (OBE) in 2007.

Dick King-Smith passed away in 2011 at the age of 88. He left behind a legacy of heartwarming stories and unforgettable characters that continue to inspire and delight readers of all ages.
