Reshma Begum was one of the lucky ones. She survived the collapse, but she lost her husband and many of her friends. In her book, Last Nightshift in Savar, Begum tells the harrowing story of that fateful day and its aftermath.

The book begins with Begum's memories of her life before the collapse. She was a young woman with a husband and two children. She worked as a seamstress at Rana Plaza, and she was proud of her job.

On the day of the collapse, Begum was working the nightshift. She had just finished her shift and was about to go home when the building began to shake. Begum and her coworkers ran for their lives, but it was too late. The building collapsed, trapping Begum and hundreds of others inside.

Begum spent the next 17 hours trapped in the rubble. She was surrounded by the bodies of her coworkers, and she could hear the cries of the injured. She was in terrible pain, and she knew that she might not survive.

But Begum refused to give up hope. She prayed to God for strength, and she sang songs to keep her spirits up. She also thought about her family, and she knew that she had to survive for them.

Finally, after 17 hours, Begum was rescued. She was taken to a hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. She was lucky to be alive, but she was also deeply traumatized by the experience.

In the years since the collapse, Begum has dedicated her life to helping other survivors of the disaster. She has spoken out about the need for better safety standards in Bangladesh's garment factories, and she has helped to establish a support group for survivors.

Last Nightshift in Savar is a powerful and moving account of the Rana Plaza collapse. It is a story of tragedy, but it is also a story of hope and resilience.
