Hughes was born in 1905 in Houston, Texas. His father was a wealthy oilman, and his mother was a socialite. Hughes was a brilliant child, and he showed an early interest in aviation. He built his first airplane at the age of 14.

In 1924, Hughes moved to Hollywood and began his career as a film producer. He produced some of the most successful films of the era, including "The Aviator" (1929),"Hell's Angels" (1930),and "Scarface" (1932).

In the 1930s, Hughes turned his attention to aviation. He set several world records for speed and altitude, and he developed new aircraft designs. In 1938, he designed and built the Hughes H-1 Racer, which was the fastest plane in the world at the time.

During World War II, Hughes played a major role in the development of military aircraft. He designed and built the Hughes XF-11, which was the first jet fighter ever built. He also developed the Hughes H-4 Hercules, which was the largest aircraft ever built.

After the war, Hughes continued to pursue his interests in aviation and filmmaking. He also became involved in a number of business ventures, including real estate, gambling, and electronics.

In the 1950s, Hughes's mental health began to deteriorate. He became increasingly paranoid and reclusive. He also developed a severe addiction to prescription drugs.

In 1966, Hughes moved to Las Vegas, where he lived in seclusion for the rest of his life. He died in 1976 at the age of 70.

Howard Hughes was a complex and fascinating figure. He was a brilliant businessman, aviator, and filmmaker. But he was also a deeply troubled man who struggled with mental illness and addiction.

This book tells the tragic story of Howard Hughes's life and madness. It is a story of brilliance, ambition, and failure. It is a story that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
